2025 UMA Motorcoach EXPO To Include Many Educational Sessions

The United Motorcoach Association’s (UMA) 2025 Motorcoach EXPO will take place February 20-23, at the Oklahoma City Convention Center, in Oklahoma City, OK. This year’s event will include a wide variety of educational sessions, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Let’s Make a Deal- C’mon Down! How do you evaluate business opportunities or purchases? – This presentation will walk attendees through a simple spreadsheet that can be used to evaluate any investment such as new shop tools, purchasing a coach, and/or starting a new service.
  • The Seven Deadly Sins of Dispatching – It is often said that dispatch is more art than science. Perhaps, but dispatching also has major safety implications as well as human resource overtones. This session features a panel of experienced owners and management personnel who share their experiences — good and bad.
  • Is someone stealing your business?Trust often shields a stark reality — those people an operator often trusts the most can exploit that trust for financial gain, often over a long period of time. This session will help attendees identify subtle signs of theft and steps that can be taken to avoid financial loss.
  • Preemployment Screening Program (PSP) Information – PSP helps carriers make more informed hiring decisions by providing secure, electronic access to a commercial driver’s five-year crash and three-year inspection history from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS). Overall, using PSP is found to reduce crash rates by 8 percent and drivers out-of-service rates by 17 percent, making this tool essential.
  • What’s new with ADA? – The Americans Disability Act incorporates all businesses including passenger transportation. Every operator is required to comply by accommodating people with disabilities. ADA is enforced by the Department of Transportation. This two-part course will review obligations and actual prosecutions.
  • I’d like to give them a piece of my mind! The U.S. Congress can certainly be perceived as tone deaf, yet they really want to hear from constituents. This session provides attendees the tools to address Congress effectively, from an operator’s backyard to the annual UMA Fly-in.
  • The North American Out-of-Service Inspection Criteria – It’s the call every operator dreads, a coach has been placed out-of-service until it is repaired. This course covers in detail various inspections and how operators can avoid the embarrassment and financial consequence of being placed out-of-service.
  • Drug & Alcohol Post Accident Testing – There’s been a crash and it’s a whirlwind of calls and actions that must be taken. This session will cover the criteria and procedures operators must take to comply with USDOT FMCSA regulations.
  • Why you are not going to be happy with your insurance physical damage claim – This session discusses ways operators can avoid disappointment when an inevitable physical damage claim arrives.
  • Interstate or Intrastate? – An operator did not cross a state line, so why is the company being told it’s in violation for not having interstate operating authority? This problem is more common than many are aware. This course simplifies the approach to determining… “Is it interstate?”
  • It’s Christmas already? Another year went by, and time was never taken to write a budget involving revenue and expense projections, as well as profit goals. This session will help operators crunch some numbers and write a budget for the coming year.
