Anonymous $41,200 Donation Caps 5 Years Of BATA Helping Spread Holiday Cheer
The Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA-Traverse City, MI) recently had the privilege of distributing $41,200 spread across 100 envelopes to folks in need throughout BATA’s service area. This special activity was made possible by an anonymous donor. This is the fifth year in a row BATA has been able to spread holiday magic to the community.
BATA staff were able to make the holidays a little brighter by randomly selecting individual riders to receive this unexpected gift. Recipients expressed genuine gratitude and shared stories of how the money will help them pay bills, buy food, purchase winter clothing, and even buy Christmas presents for friends and family.
This random act of kindness was also appreciated by staff and truly encompassed the adage that “giving is better than receiving,” by being able to help individuals they see riding on a regular basis.
BATA driver Shane shared, “This is something very special and one of the reasons I love my job.”
“The whole BATA family is so thankful to be part of this Holiday Cheer activity by having the opportunity to bring smiles to people’s faces and embody the spirit of the season,” BATA Executive Director Kelly Dunham said.
