RABA Teams Up With Moovit To Enhance Rider Experience

Redding (CA) Area Bus Authority (RABA) is expanding its partnership with Moovit, creator behind the No. 1 commuter app, according to a press release.

“RABA riders can now enjoy an exclusive, ad-free Moovit experience packed with new shared mobility options, multimodal journey planning, real-time updates, and seamless trip planning and payment — all in one app,” the release added. “This upgrade means that RABA passengers can now plan multimodal journeys with ease, integrating Bird scooters, Redding Bikeshare e-bikes, RABA Runabout, and Uber rides to navigate Redding and beyond.

“Whether catching a bus, hopping on a scooter, or biking to the final destination, riders now have more choices than ever to get where they need to go, conveniently and efficiently.

“This is in addition to being able to use Moovit to plan, pay for, and navigate journeys with real-time arrival information. With the recent Uber, Bird and BCycle integration, Moovit’s user-friendly interface enables travelers to view Uber, Redding Bikeshare and scooter locations or as an option when planning their journey, ensuring a smooth and connected commute.”

Key features available to RABA riders through Moovit include:

  • Real-Time Arrival Information: Know exactly when the bus will arrive;
  • Live Directions: Step-by-step guidance with helpful deboarding alerts;
  • Service Alerts: Notifications about disruptions, delays, and service changes;
  • Multimodal Journey Planning: Easily connect buses with Bird scooters, Redding Bikeshare, Uber and Runabout on-demand rides for a seamless trip;
  • Seamless Payments: Plan and pay for RABA rides in one app, eliminating the need for multiple platforms; and,
  • Ad-Free Experience: Enjoy an uninterrupted, distraction-free commute.

“With this enhanced partnership, we’re making it easier than ever for residents of Shasta County (CA) to navigate their community seamlessly,” John Andoh, Transit General Manager at RABA, said. “By integrating bikes, scooters, Uber, and Runabout rides into the Moovit platform, we’re giving our riders more flexibility, convenience, and control over their daily commutes — all in one easy-to-use app.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with RABA to bring their riders a seamless and comprehensive mobility experience,” Gil Balog, Chief Operations Officer at Moovit, said. “By integrating multiple modes of transportation and offering an ad-free experience, we are making public transit more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly for Redding residents and visitors alike.”

RABA riders can download the Moovit app for free on iOS and Android. Moovit’s trip planner is also on the RABA website at rabaride.com/plan_your_trip/.
