BATA Spreads $44,400 In Holiday Cheer Thanks To Anonymous Donation

Representatives of the Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA), based in Traverse City, MI, recently had the unique privilege of distributing $44,400 in cash in one day to people in need throughout the community.

An anonymous donation has been provided to BATA for the past six years, but this year’s donation is the largest to date. This year, BATA received 110 envelopes from the donor to share throughout BATA’s network to individuals needing a little holiday magic.
“These special holiday surprises were greatly appreciated by riders who shared stories of how the money will help buy Christmas gifts for friends and family, help folks stay warm this winter and even put food on the table this holiday season,” according to a press release. “BATA’s staff truly understands the importance of taking part in this kind gesture by being able to help people in need who they see riding every day.”

BATA driver Sandy shared, “My first holiday give away of the day was to a rider definitely in need of Christmas cheer — and he was very, very grateful. I love that we get to do this!”

“We are honored to be chosen again this year, and everyone at BATA is thankful to be able to help spread holiday magic and cheer while providing an essential service to the community,” BATA Interim Executive Director Chris Davis said.
