Continental Tire And Bill Morgan Tire Announce Retread Partnership

Bill Morgan Tire, in partnership with Continental Tire, has announced the opening of the first retread facility in Lexington, KY, in 40 years. The facility boasts more than 25,000 square feet and is one of the largest commercial truck tire facilities in Kentucky, according to a press release. With this new facility, Bill Morgan Tire is expecting to do more than 15,000 retreads in the first year of offering the service.

The company opened in May 2018 with Bill Morgan III working by himself. Since then, Morgan has grown the company to 28 employees across three locations, with plans to add an additional 10 employees in the next 18 months.

The Morgan family has been active in the tire industry for over 50 years, and services central and eastern Kentucky with additional service to Cincinnati, OH, and Knoxville, TN.

“After entertaining multiple retreading companies, we finally decided to align ourselves with Continental Tire’s ContiLifeCycle process,” Morgan III said. “Being able to offer our customers a premium retread and a new tire that matched up to the retread was of utmost importance. Continental has many superior technology products that give us the competitive edge when we go to market. The entire process, from the design to training, was of the highest quality and has made the choice to partner with Continental Tire a great one.”

“ContiLifeCycle offers a cradle-to-grave approach to tire management that prolongs the life of commercial tires at every stage and is sustainable to the environment. The process begins with a new tire and continues with Continental’s retreading process based upon their durable casings. This comprehensive approach prolongs the tire life and significantly lowers the total cost to the fleet owner,” the release added. “This process also proactively protects the environment and is more sustainable. By reusing the casing, it reduces the number of old tires in circulation and reduces the burden on the environment.”
