Free Rides Available For ADA Paratransit Riders On Pace’s Fixed Route Bus Service
Beginning Feb. 19, 2024, Pace (Arlington Heights, Il) passengers who are certified for ADA Paratransit service by the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) can ride for free on any Pace fixed route. This fare change expands travel options and makes public transportation more convenient and affordable for many people with disabilities.
Pace’s accessible fixed route buses and transit centers play an important role in regional connectivity.
“By removing financial barriers, we aim to expand transportation options for people with disabilities. Our mission is to encourage and facilitate increased usage of our fixed route system,” Pace Executive Director Melinda Metzger said.
“Pace’s fixed route buses are fully accessible with ramps, dedicated seating areas, audio and visual stop announcements, and other accessibility features,” according to a press release. “To ensure rides are free, ADA passengers should not tap their ADA Paratransit card on the Ventra reader. They should simply show their card to the driver when they board.”
This program is for Pace fixed route service only. For more information on Pace’s accessible fixed route service, visit PaceBus.com/Accessible-Fixed-Routes.
