Free Wi-Fi Now Available On RABA Buses And More

The Redding (CA) Area Bus Authority (RABA) now offers free Wi-Fi on all RABA fixed-route and Runabout buses as well as at the Downtown Passenger Terminal. This new feature enables passengers to stay connected, get work done, or enjoy entertainment while commuting.

In addition to free Wi-Fi, RABA has also recently introduced a new micro-transit service, called Runabout. It’s an on-demand transportation service that provides customized point-to-point trips within designated zones within 30 minutes or less.

“Runabout offers a convenient and affordable transportation option for areas that were once underutilized or not offered by regular fixed-routes,” according to a press release. “Service zones are available in Shasta Lake/Mountain Gate, East Redding, Central/West Redding, and Anderson/South County. Additionally, service is offered in the urban Redding area on Sundays and during weekday and Saturday evenings.”

“Offering free Wi-Fi on all our buses and introducing micro-transit services are key initiatives in our commitment to enhancing the public transit experience and meeting the evolving needs of our community,” RABA Transit Manager John Andoh said.

Passengers can access the free Wi-Fi by connecting to “City-Guest” on their Wi-Fi-enabled mobile devices at the Downtown Passenger Terminal or “RABA Public Wi-Fi” on the bus. To use Runabout, passengers can download the RABA & ShastaConnect, Transit or Moovit app and book from their phone, or online at: https://raba-shastaconnect.app.ridewithvia.com/ or call (530) 241-2877 and select option 2.

Fares for Runabout are $2 for regular riders and $1 for discount riders and can be purchased with cash on the Runabout or with card through the RABA & Shasta Connect, Token Transit, Transit, or Moovit apps. Visit www.RABAride.com.
