Frontrunner Bus Group, Inc., a leading innovator in mid-size lowered floor public transportation solutions, recently celebrated the delivery of its 1,000th Frontrunner bus.
“This landmark moment underscores the company’s commitment to reshaping American transit with innovative vehicles that are accessible, flexible, durable, and economical,” according to a press release. “From bustling city streets to rural communities, Frontrunner’s low-floor design is proving to be more than a trend — it’s a necessity. As transit agencies across the country reassess the size, safety and efficiency of their fleets, the Frontrunner offers a compelling solution.
“Traditional large buses too often run below capacity, wasting fuel, resources, and taxpayer dollars. Traditional cutaway buses frequently found in the mid-size bus segment with wheelchair lifts are costly to maintain, unreliable, and an additional source of potential liability; while multi-step entry and egress present its own challenges for riders. Frontrunner’s mid-sized, purpose-built low-floor buses provide a smarter, more dignified, and more efficient alternative — all while enhancing accessibility and comfort.”
“We are honored to celebrate our 1,000th Frontrunner bus on the road,” Paul LaRose, CEO of Frontrunner Bus Group, Inc., said. “This milestone reflects the rapidly growing acceptance of our commitment to innovative, flexible, reliable and safe transportation solutions that meet the real needs of modern transit.”
He added Frontrunner will continue to challenge the status quo with its latest, soon to be introduced Frontrunner XL. The press release stated the Frontrunner XL will provide “game changing innovations, including the first true level front to back flat floor with rear wheelchair accessibility, far exceeding the ADA standard.”
“We at Stellantis congratulate Frontrunner Bus Group on producing their 1,000th bus as this achievement is a testament to their dedication and excellence in the industry,” Michael Ferreira, Senior Vice President of U.S. Fleet Sales – Stellantis, said. “We are especially proud that Frontrunner Bus Group has chosen the Ram ProMaster as their sole chassis for their fleet. The Ram ProMaster’s unmatched versatility, durability, and efficiency make it the ideal foundation for their high-quality buses. We look forward to continuing this successful collaboration and celebrating many more milestones to come.”
Each Frontrunner bus is engineered for today’s riders and today’s challenges:
- Low-floor design for easy boarding and faster service;
- Fuel-efficient performance with lightweight high strength properties to cut operating costs;
- Durable advanced construction and technology for years of reliable service; and,
- Compact footprint ideal for flexible routing and right-sizing fleets.
“Transit agencies that have made the switch consistently report improved rider satisfaction and reduced operating expenses,” the release said.
LaRose added: “As the only mid-sized low-floor bus built in the true likeness of a heavy-duty transit bus, more and more agencies are adopting the Frontrunner platform. The question isn’t whether low-floor is the future — it’s how soon everyone will step onboard.”
