On Tuesday, November 5, Link Transit (Burlington, NC) will continue its Free Rides on Election Day program. Link Transit will offer free rides on all routes and services to make participation in the election process easier and more accessible.

Those interested in wanting to use Link Transit to the polls can visit the Alamance County (NC) Board of Elections website at https://www.alamance-nc.com/elections/sample-page/precinct-polling-places/ to see where the polling locations are and by using Link Transit’s trip planner on www.linktransit.org or through the Transit or Moovit app, to plan a trip to the polls.

Passengers can also get fairly close to the Alamance County Board of Elections Office at 1128 S. Main St., Graham, NC, by getting off the bus at the PART Graham Park and Ride Lot and walking ½ mile to the office.

“It is essential that everyone has the ability to perform their civic duty and cast their ballot,” John Andoh, Transit Manager for Link Transit, said. “No one should be denied their right to vote simply because they can’t afford a ride. Free public transportation on election day will help by providing access to those who may not have transportation and help ensure that everyone can participate in our democracy.”

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has encouraged public transit agencies across the country to provide ways to improve access to the polls to ensure everyone is able to exercise their rights to democracy.
