IndyGo has announced the appointment of Stanley Smith to its Board of Directors. Smith currently is the owner of SCS Associates, where he is a business consultant focused primarily on the Indiana transportation and infrastructure marketplace.

“Stanley Smith will bring extensive experience to the agency in areas such as business development and transit planning. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett appointed him to the Board,” according to a press release. “Smith previously worked for Infrastructure Engineering Inc., where he was the business development director. In this role he led and directed business development activities focused on the transportation infrastructure environment, developed strategic growth plans for the company and conducted relationship marketing seminars for staff.

“He also worked with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), where he served as the vice president and area manager. While at PB he was on the Mayor’s Task Force on Transit, acted as the principal in charge (PIC) of the Indianapolis Children’s Museum Transit Project, served as the PIC for the Ivy Tech Transit Project, and was designated the PIC of IndyGo facility and maintenance oversight.”

Prior to PB, Smith worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation, in both the deputy commissioner and commissioner roles, where he managed 5,000 employees and an annual budget of $600 million.

“We are honored to welcome a respected community leader like Stan to our Board of Directors,” IndyGo Board of Directors Chairman Gregory Hahn said. “His tremendous transit experience and community involvement make him a knowledgeable addition to help us strategize how we can continue to provide safe, reliable and accessible mobility experiences for our community.”
