Lancer Insurance’s Patrick Delaney Passes Away

Longtime bus/motorcoach industry veteran Patrick Delaney, of Lancer Insurance, died Friday, March 10, 2023, after a battle with cancer.

Born on January 27, 1961, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the youngest of three boys to David P. Delaney and Eileen (Connolly) Delaney. Following college at State University of New York, Patrick joined his brothers, Tim Delaney and Dave Delaney, at their family’s insurance business, where he remained active until his illness forced him to retire in 2023.

Patrick was a confirmed bachelor until 2020 when he met the love of his life, Michelle McGrath, who he married on April 16, 2022.

Patrick was predeceased by his mother and father, and is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle, and his brothers, Tim Delaney (Joan), of Islamorada, FL; and Dave Delaney (Joan), of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

He is also survived by six nieces and nephews: Timothy Delaney, of Rockville Centre, NY; Alice Payne, of Los Angeles, CA; Elizabeth Burke, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; David Delaney III, of River Forest, IL; Eileen Nemergut, of New York, NY; and Patrick Delaney, of Long Beach, NY.

Patrick’s family will receive friends at Denis O’Connor Funeral Home in Rockaway Beach, NY, on Thursday, March 16, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 17, at St. Francis de Sales Church, in Belle Harbor, NY.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Patrick’s name.
